On Roy Spencer
He is a climatologist, research scientist (University of Alabama at Huntsville), former chief scientist at the Marshall Space Flight Center, and the developer (along with John Christy) of NASA's satellite temperature monitoring system. Amongst his many awards are the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal (1991) and the American Meteorological Society's Special Award (1996) "for developing a global precise record of the earth's temperature from operational polar orbiting satellites, fundamentally advancing our ability to monitor climate." The fellow probably knows more about the atmosphere and ocean patterns than just about anybody out there and, so, yes, it is at the very minimum amusing that there are still morons out there who continue to put more stock in contaminated land thermometers and, worse still, those who attempt to slander him (can you all say those douche-bags over at Skeptical Science?).
