The "neocon and religious right nut-jobs" ARE the republicans.
There still seem to be a few reasonable ones; Huntsman, Christie, Corker, Portman, etc..
Double ditto that one!
Les, you and I are old enough (and I think that Jerry is, too) to remember a lot of sane Republicans; Howard Baker, Jacob Javits, Chuck Percy, Everett Dirksen, Jerry Ford, Ed Brooke, etc.. Man, has the roster ever changed.
That was a time when politicians would compromise instead of pontificate.
I could actually see you voting for an Ed Brooke, Jerry.
Ed Brooke was a good man. As were the others mentioned.
Jerry... do you really think Chris Christie, a prominent modern Republican, is either of those?
I think that Christie would be a great President. He might have to switch parties, though.
