It may be that Dr. Paul is aware that "See the world's largest accumulation of gold at our main office in the heart of New York City's financial district. Resting 50 feet below sea level, on the solid bedrock of Manhattan island, the Fed's vault contains billions of dollars worth of gold." He much prefers the gold standard to fiat currency. (even though those Italian cars depreciate rather slowly)...
