A Plea to Governor Lamont

In May the CDC claimed that, "evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of those measures (i.e., face masks) did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza". And then three months later they stated that, "those who come into close contact with a COVID patient for more than 15 minutes could spread the virus regardless of whether either individual wears a mask" - https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/.../cdc-guidelines-say... - Please, Mr. Lamont, end this mask madness. a) They're extremely ineffectual (particularly the cloth and surgical ones and because folks aren't even utilizing them properly: keeping them in their pocketbooks, glove compartments, etc., constantly touching them, not washing them between uses, etc.). b) They're causing depression, headaches, rashes, anxiety, and God only knows what those nano-particles from the material are doing to our lungs. c) They're damaging our environment by ending up in the oceans and as litter all over kingdom-come. And d) they are literally destroying the fabric of our society as people can no longer interpret nonverbal communication or even see a God damned smile any longer. Please, I'm asking you nicely here, ENOUGH WITH THIS INSANITY!....................................................................................................P.S. And this from the American Medical Association (April, 2020) - “Face masks should be used only by individuals who have symptoms of respiratory infection such as coughing, sneezing, or, in some cases, fever. Face masks should also be worn by healthcare workers, by individuals who are taking care of or are in close contact with people who have respiratory infections, or otherwise as directed by a doctor. Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals to protect themselves from acquiring respiratory infection because there is no evidence to suggest that face masks worn by healthy individuals are effective in preventing people from becoming ill. Face masks should be reserved for those who need them because masks can be in short supply during periods of widespread respiratory infection. Because N95 respirators require special fit testing, they are not recommended for use by the general public.” (Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA); April 21, 2020 Volume 323, Number 15 https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2762694).......And this from the Annals of Internal Medicine (April, 2020) - "Neither surgical nor cotton masks effective in preventing the dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 from the coughs of patients with COVID-19 to the environment and external mask surface."......Need more? 'Cause I've got more, trust me.
