Monica Lewinsky, Ken Starr, and Yasser Arafat

What would be my answer to the question, "So, who are the three main people (well, other than, of course, Bill Clinton himself - nobody held a gun to his head and made him "cheat" and then lie about it later under oath) who prevented Bill Clinton from being not a good President but a great one?"

How about the Whitewater crew? All those convicted felons?

What about his signing of the financial deregulation legislation? Granted, it wasn't until George bush created the housing bubble with his "ownership society" that the trouble began, but it could be argued that Clinton set it up by signing that legislation.

As for Whitewater, "the Clintons... were never prosecuted, as three separate inquiries found insufficient evidence linking them with the criminal conduct of others related to the land deal". It was a Republican fishing expedition, just like all the other investigations that wasted huge amounts of taxpayer money.

The financial deregulation and Bush's "ownership society", while not totally insignificant, were far less of a factor (IMO) than Mr. Greenspan's idiotic FED policies; his distortion of interest rates, loose monetary policy, and ridiculous bailout culture. Those, I believe, were what caused the initial avalanche - too much money being funneled into the housing market.
