Massholes

What do I see when I look out at those crowds at the Democratic and Republican conventions? I see a bunch of happy idiots (interspersed with a bunch of angry idiots). I see a bunch of boot-lickers. I see a bunch of lackeys and yes-men. I see the herd. I see a bunch of people who seemingly can't think for themselves. I see a bunch of true-believers and escapers from freedom. I see a bunch of glorifiers of the particular. I see a plethora of blindness...and hate...and bald misery....Wake me when it's over, would ya'?

Indeed Will there WAS a time when conventions amounted to something of value. Today they are little more than scripted show acts. Despicably shallow really.

I agree RN...conventions have indeed jumped the shark.

It is called democracy. You see the _People_, who we are.

It says too much about how you see people when you refer to the people as, "idiots", "boot-lickers","lackeys and yes-men", "herd", "true-believers and escapers from freedom", "glorifiers of the particular", etc...

Ema: Democracy will occur in November. You are just looking at crowds and confusing it with democracy. I can go to a Walmart the day after Thanksgiving and say the same thing with the same validity as you.

Les Carpenter said...

First Ema I remind you that we live in a democratic REPUBLIC. Check your civic books for further explanation.

dmarks is correct. The act of democracy, one person one vote, occurs on November 6th.

What you are watching with these conventions is fluff and hype created by the power brokers of each party and their sheeple who dutifully are herded into the arena for show.

To the elitists, snobs, and lickspittle, the people ("sheeple", "idiots", "boot-lickers","lackeys and yes-men", "herd", "true-believers and escapers from freedom", "glorifiers of the particular") are inferior. With your noses so high in the air, do you think OMitt Rmoney will allow you to join his exclusive clubs?

And even if you count the nomination process of each party as democratic, Ema, for both parties it has been over for a while since the selection process was previously completed for each during the primaries.

By the way, Ema, are you still touting Egyptian democracy now that their new president-for-life is using the power of the State along with threats and terror to directly crush dissent and opposition?

As opposed to what; USA military junta puppets? Democracy sucks: but it is better than all other forms of government.

Exclusive clubs, Ema? It is clear that you are jealous and probably lazy too, and see membership in an expensive golf club as an entitlement to be handed to you on a silver platter.

I'm gonna pull and "Olberman" (double-down, in other words), Ema. I forgot to include "lapdogs".

dmarks said...

Double-down? Is that something about Olbermann's ratings drop when he lost his marbles?

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

And aren't you just a little bit embarrassed? Homo-sapiens are tens of thousands of years old and the only progress that I can see is the fact that we've "progressed" from clans based on harvesting berries to those that are based on some moronic construct that politicians and bureaucrats can make things better. You really need to read some Erich Fromm and Eric Hoffer, dude.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

Not exactly, dmarks. I'm referring to that episode in which he went completely over the top (so much so that Jon Stewart did an uproarious bit on it) in his criticism of Scott Brown and then, instead of apologizing for it, he apologized to his viewers for forgetting some additional cheap-shots.

So Will, this is the least appealing aspect of moderates like yourself. You presume a level of moral superiority because you think your mind is open and you haven't chosen an ideology.

You also look at those of us who hold to an ideology as blind sheep following the people in power. Surely you can recognize that many of us simply believe in the same things as those people in power and don't have to blindly follow.

Democracy equals the tyranny of the majority. Our founders understood this. Apparently Ema YOU DO NOT.

We have, or at least had a republic. Only the Gods know what we'll have if Obama is reelected...

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

It's not so much that I have a moral superiority, HR. It's more cynicism.......Well, that and the fact that I've probably listened to the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" a few too many times.

I just watched Obama's speech...this guy is the most vapid president in my lifetime. This guy had the audacity to compare himself to Lincoln....un-fucking-believable.

Will: Ocassionally these events have something inspiring...for me that moment was watching Gabby Giffords walk albeit with aid, to her chair...she suffered horrendous injuries...her recovery has been a long, difficult one. I think anyone could applaud that...

Rusty: I take it you are not exactly an Obama fan. Its hard to devine this from your comments...you really need to let your emotions show a bit more. :)

RN: I wouldn't worry too much...I don't believe Obama will win and I'm a Democrat...Our civilization and Republic are "safe."

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

I didn't see it, Marcus, but, yeah, that lady is absolute class and I am rooting for her purely.

Rusty Shackelford said...

Marcus, you should realize you hitched your wagon to the most incompetent president since Jimmy Carter. As a president,Obama is a very good community organizer.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

I'm going to do a post on this topic, Russ; the similarities and dissimilarities between these two men. Stay tuned, fair and balanced.

Rusty:

The great thing about America is we can all have an opinion...and we can freely express our opinion. Lets just say my assessment of our current president is not the same as yours...Since 1980 the Republicans have had more than their fair share of power. They have overspent, been involved in military blunders, corruption, etc in other words they have done the same thing as the Democrats yet Republicans claim innocence...The current House of Reps is the worst House in my memory...but again I am only expressing an opinion...

Marcus said...

Will: Carter vs. Obama?? Its your Blog and you can do what you want..At the risk of being accused of a WD sock puppet...a better comparison might be G.W.Bush and Carter...

dmarks said...

The current House? Not near as bad as the last one. It hasn't passed any debt-hiking worthless 'stimulus' or any Obamacare boondoggles. The current House has nothing like when the leader of the previous one said that the time to read legislation is after you pass it.

dmarks said...

Carter vs Obama for sure. Bush? Not much comparison; with his many years of job growth, and things only going bad when the Dems took over Congress and sent the country over the cliff.

Marcus said...

Dmarks: We can disagree on the merits of Stimulus...The Repbulicans used it when it suited them in the past...it was text book afterall, except now its quite fashionable to bash J M Keynes. The failure to compromise and take worthless pledges is nothing to brag about...Neither is obstruction, hoping the president fails and committing to an agenda to remove a president only 6 months after being elected...moreover, the country did not go over the cliff once the Dems took over...if you are going to argue be fair. Don't exegerate...the economy tanked before Obama took office...Both sides shared in the responsibility including the Bush administration... I agree that The Affordable Health Care Act was poorly timed/executed...Still I wonder: How come when the Repubs proposed something similiar in the 90's, it was OK? Was Romneycare any different...I hate this. Arguing about who was responsible doesnt solve anything...

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

Marcus, I'd be willing to put all 3 of them (Bush, Carter, and Obama) in a life-raft and give the keys to Clinton. The Constitution just won't let me, though.

dmarks said...

Marcus: When the Dems took over... i meant Congrsss, not the White House!

"I agree that The Affordable Health Care Act was poorly timed/executed."

I refuse to call OBamacare any sort of "affordable" anything, when it had specific provisions designed to increase costs (such as the tax on medical equipment). "ACA" is less ridiculous. At least you don't hear "Affordable" when you say "ACA".
