On the Fact that in Certain Segments of the Black Community, Helping Your Children with Their Homework is Considered "Cooning"/"Acting White"

That's a huge problem, folks (and not one that is likely to be ameliorated by a 127th federal welfare/giveaway program).

  1. That is an interesting situation, a cultural one if we note the car stickers that
state "My kid can beat up your honor student". It is a wasteful attitude, harmful
to the kids. One which Bill Cosby frequently addressed. But Cosby has his own
skeletons. IMO, a better role model would be Neil Degrasse Tyson. We note as well that the phenomenon affects males more than females. Anecdotally, I managed a
technical operation and introduced a broad cross-training program, explaining that
individuals would be of more value to themselves as well as the business. It takes some patience and diligence, but seemed to work in the long run; people felt more confident and interested. Unfortunately, society blames the educators rather than
the parents, a perception which permits the problem to continue, IMO.
