Please, Don't EVER Ask Me That Again

What would be my answer to the question, "So, who do you think was better; Bette Davis in "Jezebel" or Olivia de Havilland in "The Heiress?"

  1. Don't look at me, I wouldn't ask you that question... I haven't seen either of those movies.

  2. Two of the top 5 performances in cinematic history (along with Burt Lancaster in "Elmer Gantry", Marlon Brando in "On the Waterfront", and Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire"), IMHO.

  3. Wait a minute, let's make it a 6-pack; Gregory Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird".

  4. I'd go with Peck in Mockingbird, I think he was able to translate the humanity of Atticus Finch from the book to the screen about as well as could be expected.

  5. So many great performances, double b. One could easily argue for Robert DeNiro in "Raging Bull" and Laurence Olivier in "Hamlet", too.
