More pure bullshit. As you can plainly see from the top graph the amount of burnt acreage was much higher in the 1930s. What the politicians did was chop off those earlier decades and stretch the vertical axis to make it look like the slight uptick in recent burning was far more catastrophic than it was, a clearly unscrupulous act and, yet, surprising, no, not in the least.
