On the Fact that (According to Esteemed Historian, Frank W. Taussig) the Republicans in Congress Raised the Tariff on Wool to Over 100% in 1889 (Not Because the Country Needed the Tax Revenues but Because They Had to Pay Back Their Cronies)

And who got hurt by this? Try (as is almost always the case when the government intervenes), poor people (in the form of higher clothing prices)....Nice, huh?

    Like with war, Congress has the power to enact tariffs. Like with war, it's best completely avoided if possible.

    That's why I like Grover Cleveland; the fact that he didn't like tariffs and refused to annex Hawaii without the consent of the indigenous populace.
